What is gnar?
Like the ski movie,The Game of GNAR, that stands for Gaffney’s Numerical Assessment of Radness?
Exactly.
Or simply, gnar, which is a commonly used word throughout outdoor sports. I.e., “We’re going to go shred the gnar!”
who’s behind this?
Hi! I’m Kendall McCormick, born and raised in Lake Tahoe, basically grew up on the mountain at Palisades Tahoe (old Squaw Valley kids know). Growing up in the ski industry in the early 2000s, ski and snowboard film nights were a religion.
Fast forward to fall 2025. I'm at a networking event for outdoor folks in Denver and I'm standing there reminiscing with total strangers about what it used to feel like. The stoke, the community, the stories. And I just thought — why isn't this happening anymore? So, I started it.
I've always believed a single story can change someone's life. That's why the open mic is just as important as the films. We're the ones who make up this community — skiers, climbers, kayakers, hikers, weekend warriors — so why not actually hear from each other?
Come watch some bangers, get on the mic, win some free stuff, and meet awesome people!
